Join Head Chef Rob Cockerill and Diageo National Whisky Ambassador, Simon McGoram for an intimate whisky matched dinner.

On Tuesday August 29th, Bennelong will host an intimate dinner featuring some of the world’s most exclusive whiskies. The evening will be a rare chance to be guided through a collection of exceptional whiskies by Diageo’s National Whisky Ambassador. Simon McGoram, whilst enjoying a specially designed menu by Rob Cockerill.

The six course menu will feature Bennelong signature dishes including favourites, red claw yabby pikelets and our carrot salad with new curated editions such as fried prawn dumplings and slow cooked Rangers Valley beef cheek.

Each course will be matched with rare whiskies including Distillers edition, a line of limited edition whiskies produced each year under careful scrutiny of David Leith, Talisker 18 year old, which has previously won “Best Single Malt Whisky” at the World Whisky Awards, and Clynelish, which was only recently released as a single malt with limited production.

With only 25 spots available, the intimate dinner will be a memorable night for whisky lovers.

Simon McGoram
Simon, an avid whisky enthusiast, has worked in the beverage industry for the past 16 years as a bartender, bar owner/operator, consultant, drinks magazine contributor and brand ambassador.

A former editor of Australian Bartender magazine and contributor for Fairfax’s nationally syndicated Executive Style, Simon’s knowledge of beverage alcohol has been described as encyclopaedic.

Before opening Neighbourhood Bar & Restaurant in Bondi (of which Simon is a coowner), he was the New South Wales Brand Ambassador for Diageo’s Reserve brands. Simon was responsible for brand education to both the trade and consumers through formal tasting and training sessions through to hosting and organising events like the Men’s Style Men of Influence dinner sponsored by Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

After four years of working on his own businesses and working as a consultant for Diageo whiskies, Simon is now able to lend his passion and knowledge for the category as the Diageo National Whisky Ambassador working with Johnnie Walker, The Singleton, Talisker, Lagavulin and Diageo’s greater malt portfolio. As National Whisky Ambassador it is Simon’s role to host some of the most prestigious whisky events in Australia. These include tastings on the Talisker Yacht and luxury Special Release launches. On top of hosting, Simon designs and conducts consumer and trade whisky trainings and is an expert resource for Diageo staff, agencies and partners. Simon is passionate about continuing to develop Australia’s love for all things Scotch, and is an incredibly exciting asset to the future of the Scotch whisky culture here in Australia.
